Olive Melhus
Olive Melhus was born in Norway March 17, 1905 to John & Josephine Melhus. Josephine & 2 daughters Julia & Olive immigrated September 1905 to Cobalt Ontario to join father John Melhus. Nine children were born to the family. They moved to Granthams Landing after 1918. Olive was committed to hospital by her father due to strange behaviour, on Sept. 1923, age 19, discharged 1924. Admitted again 1927 to 1928, manic depressive. Admitted July 1932 & remains until her death July 1936.
She was visited quite often by her Aunt & siblings as well as father. There seems to be a mental
illness that has been prevalent in her family.
Her Aunt Julia Wiker was in the same hospital during these times but was not buried on the
grounds.
